Who We Are
Mamamayang Nagkakaisa para sa mga Isda or Makaisda (United Citizens for Fish Welfare) is a Philippine animal welfare initiative whose mission is to improve the welfare of farmed fish by raising the standards of aquaculture and fish husbandry in the country. It is a project under Fish Welfare Initiative (FWI).
Position Responsibilities
The following will be the core responsibilities for the Aquaculture Technician:

Field assessment of the status of aquaculture systems (e.g. water quality parameters, net cage quality, seed/feed quality), and creation of report summarizing findings

Collaborate with FWI Welfare Specialist on the development of teaching modules and welfare interventions

Conduct training sessions with farmers on proper fish welfare practices

Building relationships with fish farmers throughout Luzon and Cebu
Qualifications

Education. Degree in Aquaculture, Aquaculture Management, Fish Husbandry, or related disciplines, OR certifications in courses related to aquaculture (e.g. TESDA Aquaculture NC II)

Experience.

Implementation of Code of Good Aquaculture Practices as set by the Philippine National Standards, and the animal welfare act

2-3 years of experience working in aquaculture or fish farms

Willingness to travel around Luzon or Visayas (following appropriate COVID safety guidelines)

Excellent communication skills and strong ability to build new relationships

Fluency in Filipino required, and fluency in Bisaya preferred

The Fine Print

Location: Primarily in the field throughout Luzon or Visayas region with some WFH

Position Status: Part-time (2-4 days/week), 6 month contract with possibility for renewal

Start Date: ASAP

Pay: Starting from PHP25K, negotiable depending on level of experience
